It's that time of year again, when the marathon runners take to the streets of Akron. This extraordinary race has exploded in popularity, beginning just three years ago and today attracting runners from all over the world. You can be a part of the action this year— if you're lucky enough to have the marathon run through your neighborhood, that is— or you can see it all on Time Warner Cable and our website!

Watch Race Day Action... right from our website!

Our five webcams have been placed along the marathon route, stationed at the four relay handoff points and at the finish line. Check the racers' progress by clicking on your choice of camera view below.

Wilbeth Rd: Handoff One
Firestone Park residents get a great look at the end of the first leg of the race. Marathoners run through beautiful residential neighborhoods, winding through to Brown Street and the way back toward the heart of downtown Akron.

Brown St: Handoff Two
At the top of a long, gradual hill the runners will come upon relay handoff point number two. Runners at this point have reached the outer University of Akron campus area, which they will cross on their 26.2-mile run.

Sand Run: Handoff Three
This scenic parkway provides the perfect backdrop for the third relay handoff point. Marathoners and relay runners will travel from this point south-westward through the wooded park, making their way upward out of the valley at Revere Road.

Revere Rd: Handoff Four
At the top of a long uphill stretch and situated on Revere Road, just north of Fairlawn Country Club, lies handoff number four. Marathoners at this point are fighting fatigue and preparing for their final charge down Market St., driving for the finish line.

The exciting race finish takes place inside Canal Park Stadium, halfway between home plate and first base. Unlike other types of races, marathon finishes go on and on. Running a marathon isn't easy— and everyone can't come out the winner— but the look on the faces of each runner crossing the finish line tells a story of victory that's worth seeing firsthand. Spectators are welcome to watch from the stands as each exciting finish unfolds; runners compete against their own endurance, competitors and the clock.

Road Runner Course Fly-Through Video

See what the runners see on race day! This video was filmed just before the start of the race, giving the illusion of a helmet cam on the lead runner. Everything is as the runners see it at the beginning of the race: the Akron city streets, the watering stations and of course the cheering crowds ready for action. Hit the "Play" arrow below to watch the same high-speed course video presented on DVD to all the marathon runners by Time Warner Cable!
